Bakugan Battle Brawlers is an action video game series based on the Japanese Anime cartoon series of the same name. The story follows a group of competitors called the Battle Brawlers, who battle using creatures from the planet Vestroia, called Bakugan. Bakugan Battle Brawlers was also adapted as a strategy and card game in Japan, and the video games borrow a few elements from that game.

Players begin a Bakugan battle by drawing a gate card and putting it on the field, setting it into play. They are allowed to hold three Bakugan at a time.
